Prayer Point #4 is all about restoring and enhancing Connection to the King and His agenda.
Prepare and repair the Temple within the heart of the believer. Restore and enhance our unwavering love for God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit as well as for all those made in His image.
As you look around the world and try to identify believers based on behavior, it seems that it has become more difficult to identify sold out brothers and sisters in Christ. Sure, we are known for what we stand for or against based on bumper sticker theology and Darwin eating fish on the tailgate, but are we known for our love? Even within the ranks of believers, we are easily offended and quickly disassociate ourselves from each other.
It is time to return to our first love. This prayer point is huge in that it asks God to repair His temple within the heart of the believer. (caution: we are about to enter the construction zone)
What would the world be like when we really have love for each other? What would people say; what would they do?
By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35 ESV)
When we learn to love the people who have actually voted for Jesus, then we can move on to the great commission of loving others into the family of God.
Secondly, God said that His house would be a house of prayer. There is always some resistance by believers to the call to prayer. Why? It may go to the very heart of the matter when Jesus cleared the temple of all the corruption and declared that His house was a house of prayer. There may be competing influences in the heart of the believer–we are asking the Lord to restore the practice and purpose of the believer in a heart that is fully pursuing the Lord’s priorities to obtain the pearl of great price.
Among all the prayer points, this one is perhaps the most humbling, convicting and challenging because it is a call to purity before the Lord–a cleansing of the house.
“Without Holiness, no one will see the Lord”.
Southwest Florida needs the presence of the Lord, therefore, we need to prepare our hearts and pray.
Tomorrow, Prayer Point #5
