The Land

May 22nd, 2009

Dominion. We were given the command and the authority to take dominion over the land. So what’s going on with the land these days? In Southwest Florida, and all over the world, the land has stopped producing what the land used to produce.

Is the land sick or have we not taken dominion over it? Yes, is the answer to both questions.

When the land doesn’t produce what it used to produce, our first attempt to fix what’s wrong is with a logical approach…get a new job, get a second job, send my spouse out to get a new or second job–to glean more from a land that is producing less. The results of our logical and well thought out desperate approach has resulted in layoffs and companies going out of business or worse, people leaving the area looking for a land that will produce what is needed to sustain their family. I get that, I’ve been there and once again, logic may not lead us to where God wants us to go in faithfully stewarding the land He’s given us.

Yes the land is sick, but I believe it has stayed sick because the Lord desires for His people to chase down and access His promise over the land. He has already promised that He would heal the land, but He may just be waiting on the co-laboring part of the promise to ramp up.

“If my people, who are called my people, will humble themselves and pray, seek, crave and require of necessity my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and heal their land.” 2 Chron. 7:14 AMP

The land needing healing is not a new thing to God and it certainly didn’t catch Him off guard; it did however, catch the world off guard and it literally started here in Southwest Florida with a mortgage bomb that blew up. The crater was still settling while the shock wave was felt all over the country and the world—all the way to Wall Street and back to main street–from Lee County to Las Vegas and Stockton California, to China, Europe and the entire world, the land seemingly got sick over night.

What should we do?  What can we do? In October of last year, CNBC and their financial panel of experts put out the word over the airwaves for the brightest and best to come forward to sit on a panel to tell us what we need to do next to fix the financial crisis. To the best of my knowledge, no one stepped forward. The world waits for the Daniels and Josephs to pray and rise up with the answers to the king’s nightmares and dreams with no meanings.

The answer to the question of the land and what should we do Southwest Florida, is to pray. God has told us to pray. He’s told us to pray, seek, crave and require of necessity His face–are we there yet?

When my daughter was three years old, there was a time when we were entertaining friends in our home and she was sitting in my lap wanting my attention. I was carrying on a conversation with our guests and she reached up, grabbed my face and turning it toward hers, she said, “Daddy, pay attention to me!”. I got it then, and I get it now.

We have the ability and the means for which to turn the face of God in our direction. He’s given us the plan and the healing of the land is an accessible promise–when we do our part, He will do His part; He is always faithful and He’s watching and waiting for His bride, the Church, to rise up and access what He’s already decreed.

Our time is now. Let’s do it. Let’s Pray Lee County, let’s pray. ~ by John Moran, Fort Myers, FL
