What is Pray Lee County?
Pray Lee County effort this year to link hundreds of churches in united to be prayer over a period of 51 days, 24 hours per day from August 8th to September 27th. Our goal is to unite churches in the prayers they pray for our county in seeking to access the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14.
If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer offered in this place. AMP
In collectively calling the Church to it’s knees, in unity, we seek the presence of God to heal our land.
Why are we praying for 51 days?
Timing of the Campaign
On August 8th, Governor Rick Perry of Texas has called for a time of prayer for our nation in Reliant Stadium in Houston. Our nation needs prayer—not only for fiscal, economic and natural disaster issues, but for the assault on our moral virtues and Judeo-Christian values. It seems to be the timing of the Lord to join tens of thousand of people in Texas to pray for our nation and begin our Season of Prayer.
Why 51 Days?
Day 51 will be the Jewish Festival of Rosh Hashanah—feast of trumpets and the beginning of the Jewish New Year. It seemed highly appropriate to end our season of prayer with a trumpet call of God.
In addition, the school year starts August 8th and the R.E.D. Conference is on September 24th. Since the next generation is important to the Lord and the R.E.D. (Radically Engaged Disciples) Conference seeks to equip and empower students in the Great Commission on their school campus—it seemed appropriate to add eleven days to our great adventure.
Can any church or synagogue join?
Any church or synagogue can join with us that believe in Jesus Christ as Messiah. Within the Eight Points of Prayer, we will be lifting up God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The prayers we pray respect no particular denomination—they are prayers to capture the heart of God and the heart of man—co-laboring in unity through the prayers that are prayed.
How does my church participate?
First, your pastor must agree to sign up. Your pastor can appoint a prayer coordinator for your church to recruit those that will. Your pastor can email us at hisregion@yahoo.com and we will contact him/her directly to answer any questions they might have.
Each pastor/church joined the task of maintaining the wall of prayer around Lee County may choose one or more Prayer Coordinators within their own church to gather and prepare their people for prayer. Many prayer coordinators may already be in place from previous campaigns and just need to be activated again.
What if my church is too small? Can I still pray with you?
First, no church is too small. Your church can join our team and we’ll then begin to recruit churches around you to help you complete your prayer team. This is where unity can be such a powerful force as we all help each other fulfill God’s call in this season.
What should I pray for during my commitment time?
Prayer points have been carefully and reverently made. The common thread this year praying for those who don’t know Christ as well as for those who do—in order to prepare all minds and hearts to either receive ministry or impart it to others in all places appointed by the Lord. We believe the Church of Lee County is preparing to host and disciple the nations.
There are no denominations in heaven—for 51 days, let there be none on earth as we unite in honoring the Lord, together, through prayer.
